Matcha is a type of green tea that stands out from other green teas for a couple of important reasons:

When making matcha the whole green tea leaf is used vs. steeping the leaves and throwing them away. 
Antioxidants promote general wellness by preventing the oxidation of cells in our body. Antioxidants have been found to help lower inflammation, reduce risk of cancer, prevent coronary heart disease, and so much more.

Matcha has the highest amount of catechins compared to other green teas. Catechins are phenolic compounds found in common foods/drinks such as tea, berries, and cocoa (AKA very beneficial for health). They have powerful antioxidant effects on the body. A type of catechin found in green tea called EGCG is one of the reasons green tea has been found to be disease-fighting and health-promoting.

Matcha also contains l-theanine, an amino acid that helps with relaxation and concentration. Believe it or not, some research shows that taking l-theanine with caffeine before a test can reduce the amount of errors! It’s best to take l-theanine with caffeine compared to taking l-theanine alone. Hence, why matcha is so great!
