Let’s explore ACV's benefits when it comes to preventing the common cold and flu:
Apple cider vinegar contains several vitamins and minerals that are known to support the immune system, most notably vitamin C. Vitamin C is an important antioxidant that helps our body fight against damage caused by free radicals, also known as oxidative damage. Too much oxidative damage can make us more susceptible to illness and disease.
Apple cider vinegar also contains beneficial plant-based compounds such as phenolic acids. Phenolic acids abundant in ACV include gallic, chlorogenic, and caffeic acids. These plant-based compounds have been shown to have potential health benefits due to their antioxidant and anti-viral properties.
The acetic acid content of ACV has also been thought to contribute to ACV’s potential immune supporting effects.
